Tess Levine is a rising coloratura soprano, driven by the desire to connect with and inspire audiences through the timeless stories of opera. This Summer, she will join Opera Theatre St. Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist.
Tess has a passion for intertwining the magic of Shakespearean drama with the dramatic expression of opera. She enchanted audiences with her portrayal of Tytania in Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s steampunk production of Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and played a captivating Helena at Chicago Summer Opera the summer before. Her repertoire extends beyond the realms of Shakespearean fantasy, as seen in her portrayal of This fall, she makes her role debut as Nellie Ewell in Lee Hoiby’s Summer and Smoke and Amore in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, where her voice embodied youthful vibrancy and joy.
Tess received her Bachelor's in Music from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Cynthia Hoffmann, and is now in pursuit of her Masters at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she studies with Dr. Rebecca Folsom. She has had the privilege of honing her skills in masterclasses led by renowned artists such as Warren Jones, Isabel Leonard, and Lawrence Brownlee.
In recognition of her outstanding talent, Tess received the Camille Colouratura Awards Encouragement Award in 2024 and Lotte Lenya Emerging Young Artist Award in 2021.
